Endless postcard. Endless card in outline style

In order to make an Endless Card, we need two sheets of scrap paper, in my case single-sided, measuring 15x15 cm.

Cut both sheets in half.

And bend it in half lengthwise.

We get four blanks. We bend each one on both sides towards the center, thus marking fold lines at a distance of ¼ of the length.

We combine the two halves of one sheet and place them on the table with the inside out. Coat the outer upper squares with glue.

Glue half of the second sheet across the first. Apply glue to the outer bottom squares.

Glue the other half in the same way. Tip: When you crease, don't press too hard. You may notice that the fold lines do not match up a bit after gluing. Then you can go through the assembled structure with a scoring machine. If you notice that any of the edges are sticking out slightly, cut off any excess.

We take the postcard as shown in the figure and open the doors, moving them back.

We get a spread like the one in the photo. We go through the folds with a creasing machine.

We open the squares up and back.

We get a new spread. We go through the scoring machine.

We open the card again, moving the squares to the sides and back. All that remains is to open the doors up and down - and we find ourselves at the beginning of the postcard.

All that remains is to decorate it. Do not use bulky elements to make the card open easily. I like to consider the second spread to be the beginning of the card - it looks more interesting and becomes more stable. When decorating the second spread, do not decorate the side parts (they remain white in the photo).

These white parts are the components of the third spread.

Good luck in mastering this MK. I admit, it was only the third time I understood how to rotate this postcard. But then you can’t tear yourself away from it. Many who saw her agreed that she was already a full-fledged gift!

Every teacher invests in his students not only knowledge, but also teaches respect, gratitude and many other useful qualities. It follows from this that on his professional holiday the teacher deserves from you greeting card with words of gratitude. A small trifle, a couple of pleasant words with congratulations and you will give the teacher a lot of positive emotions. To make this card interesting, you can make and decorate it yourself. This master class will allow you to master making an “endless” postcard for Teacher’s Day. Why is it called infinite? Because in it there will be four different spreads in total, which unfold one after another, and in the end, after the fourth spread, you return to the first.

Let's get started. We will need:
Light brown and brown pastel paper on a landscape sheet;
Two sheets of any cardboard for the postcard design;
Scrappaper specifically for school theme, only four sheets 15x15 cm;
Color pictures about school and the inscription “Happy Teacher’s Day”;
Beige openwork lace;
The grosgrain ribbon is dark brown with polka dots;
Border hole puncher “Lace”;
Black ink and acrylic stamp " Handmade»;
PVA glue, pencil, double-sided tape, ruler, hot glue gun, scissors;
For decoration, we take green leaves, brown, turquoise and peach flowers, a cut-out frame made of brown cardboard, various half-beads, a metal key, and a small piece of paper for congratulations.

First, take cardboard and draw the size of the postcard diagram. The template shows that in total we need to cut out four 7*14 cm rectangles for the base of the card.

Cut out two 7*14 cm rectangles from pastel paper. Now, according to the diagrams, we need to make bending lines, the so-called scoring. To do this, we place a book or board under the paper and use scissors under a ruler to make a crease.

The corners that are sketched in the diagram are the places where we will spread PVA glue and glue the rectangles together. Place rectangles No. 1 and No. 2 on the book, close to each other vertically. Apply PVA glue to the outermost upper and lower corners of the squares.

We take square No. 3, turn it over horizontally and smear the upper corner squares with glue and lay it horizontally on blanks No. 1 and 2. Press and smooth.

We also glue rectangle No. 4, only now we apply the lower corner squares.

Leave the glued corners to dry for about 15-20 minutes. Now let's spin the postcard. She's like a transformer, spread after spread. There will be four of them in total.

Now for each spread we will make our own. Each spread has its own sheet of scrap paper. From the remaining pieces we make paper lace with a hole punch.

We glue two pictures onto each spread onto 7.5*7.5 cm squares. We sew each one on a machine. Then we add a ribbon to the front picture and make a frill of lace, and also sew it on. We tint the cut out inscription along the edge. We glue all cardboard parts only with double-sided tape.

Hello, regular readers and guests of the blog!

Works are accepted from September 1 to October 1 (inclusive). Draw: October 3.

And now I give the floor to the author:
- “I invite everyone to make a card with an interesting shape, which is called “endless”. It has such a name because you can endlessly twist it in your hands, opening the spreads and not understanding how it works. :) I’ll say right away that if you give one like this a postcard to someone, the admiration and surprise of the recipient will know no bounds! And although there are only 4 spreads in it, when you open them, you don’t notice it and it seems that every time something new is revealed.

It's actually very easy to do. Let's get started?!
Cut out 4 rectangles with sides 20*10 cm from watercolor paper

Setting aside 5 cm from each edge, draw a line with a crease or knitting needle and bend along it like this:

We take 2 blanks, set them aside 5 cm from the edge and draw a line with a pencil to the fold line. We should get something like this:

We carefully coat these corner squares with glue, without going beyond the pencil line and the fold line, but it is easier to glue strips of double-sided tape:

A very important moment is coming. First, we open the sticky layer of tape and very carefully, tightly to each other, side by side, place two blanks, as in the top photo, but without leaving a gap in the middle. Secondly, we take the third blank, turn it in our hands perpendicular to the already laid blanks and, aligning the corners, glue it to the first two blanks. Those. it should be glued across first at their upper corners. Here in the photo you can see that the bottom layer is the first two blanks, and on top, across them, the third blank is glued. The lower corners of the first blanks with tape attached are still free.

Our design is all ready!
Take the postcard in your hands and twist it, opening the flaps. If somewhere it still jams and the doors open poorly, then it’s okay - now you can trim these sides with a breadboard knife, removing 1 mm from the edge.
And then all that remains is to decorate the card.
My version is shabby chic style, but you can choose any one.
I decorated the first spread like this:
First, I tinted the edges and folds with dry pastels to match the tone of the selected sheet.

I cut the sheet into pieces - 2 squares measuring approximately 9.7 * 9.7 and 4 rectangles measuring 9.7 * 4.7. The edges are frayed. This can be done with a special tool, but I use a scissor blade.

I stitched the rectangles on a machine, glued them on, and added decor.

Since for some time now I have become a passionate fan of texture pastes and stencils, I use the volume created with the Sonnet texture paste in my decor. When dried, it turns from snow-white to translucent. The result is such a light, unobtrusive drawing. I lightly tint the dried paste using a sponge with the same dry pastel.

In some places you can apply “Text” stamps. Butterflies and half-pearls are also quite appropriate in shabby chic style works.

By the way, after stitching the edges on the machine and putting the threads on the wrong side, you shouldn’t tie them in a knot. It is better to secure them by gluing a strip of masking or paper tape

We open the first doors and find ourselves on the second turn. Here you can place congratulation text, poems, suitable pictures or photographs.

Again I use texture paste for decoration, but this time from Tair. When dried, it remains snow-white. I tint it slightly with pink pastel.

Lace, aged buttons and craquelure are all possible attributes of the shabby chic style.

We open the doors again, this time moving them up and down, and we find ourselves on the third turn:
I have it decorated with paper lace and textured lace. But you can also place congratulations, pictures and photographs here. In the future I will have an inscription like " Best wishes to the beautiful birthday girl." You can put the inscription with a stamp, but I didn’t have a suitable text, I’ll write it by hand later.

Lace with Tair texture paste:

Can be supplemented with stamping.

We open the doors and find ourselves at the fourth turn. Here I made pockets with tags, on the back of which there is a continuation of the poem started on the second spread.

Texture paste patterns:

We do not overload the tags with voluminous decorations so that the card can be closed.

A little more embossing in the corners.

Now the postcard is ready.
You, of course, realized that it can be turned into a miniature if you paste a photo or into your favorite book of poems by your favorite author :)
And I’ll probably also give you the poems used in this postcard, in case someone needs it.

There are women who attract
Who fall in love, seduce,
Which give confidence.

There are women who look like stars,
There are women who are like a dream,
Beautiful as morning roses,
Like a stream of crystal chimes.

There are women calling on the road,
There are women who live in dreams
There are Women given by God,
There are those who are praised in poetry.

There are those whose name is Light and Tenderness,
There are those who are called Joy,

The idea of an endless card is simple and original. You can decorate it either in a festive gift or in a bright playful manner. A card like this is a wonderful remedy for stress and fatigue.

A characteristic feature of an endless postcard is the possibility of its unique rotation, in which new sides are revealed. And this process can be continued for as long as desired.

1. When creating this postcard, design elements made using the artistic cutting technique were used. These are stencils for contour details.

2. The base of the postcard is four rectangles glued together in a special way. Their size can be any. The main thing is that the sides of the paper have a ratio of 1:2. In this example, the dimensions of the sides of the rectangles are 6 and 12 cm. Thick paper should be used (120-180 g/m2).

3. Mark the middle fold line. And two more lines perpendicular to it. To obtain them, measure a distance from the edge of the paper equal to half the smaller side of the rectangle. In this example, it is 3 cm. All lines must be punched (pushed). Usually a completely covered rod is used for this.

4. We bend our blanks.

5. Let's start decorating the details. We print out the stencils and staple them to paper of the selected color.

6. Cut out the elements using a craft knife.

7. Glue the decorative parts to the main ones.

8. We begin the process of assembling the postcard. We lay two blanks of the same type side by side without a gap. Apply glue to the upper corners (they are marked with green lines).

9. Glue the third part. Apply glue to the bottom corners.

10. And attach the fourth blank. The base of the card is ready.

11. Turn the opposite side up. And we will consider it the first.

12. Open, turning the edges to the left and right at the same time. The second side is still empty.

13. We decorate it by cutting out and gluing contour butterflies.

14. Add decorative details, cut out with curly composters.

15. Continue rotating, opening the edges up and down.

16. We decorate the third side with two halves of a butterfly glued side by side.

17. Again we open the edges to the left and right. We get to the fourth side. And we continue to rotate. Now the fourth side will be the first. Let's count - once.

20. Four.

The endless card is ready!

If the decorative elements decorating the card are placed symmetrically, then it will not have a strict orientation. And rotation can start from any side.

This is such a wonderful endless postcard in its simplicity and beauty.

Why infinite? Because the design of the postcard allows you to watch how frames from your life endlessly change, like in a kaleidoscope, if you decided to give a postcard for a birthday or wedding and used photographs for its design, or endlessly delight your child if pictures from cartoons or his funny photos, or amuse you in New Year, if these are funny holiday pictures... Today we’ll talk about how to make an endless New Year’s card with your own hands.

What do we need to create a New Year's card with our own hands?

  • Paper for scrapbooking with New Year's motifs. For the base itself, you will need two sheets of paper, preferably double-sided, because... the underside of the sheets will also be visible as a result, and 1-2 sheets of paper with a different design for decoration are your choice.
  • For decoration, we took New Year's stickers - naturally, you can choose something else.
  • Glue, brush (you can use a glue stick or double-sided tape), scissors, ruler. If you have a creasing machine, that’s ideal, but if not, you can get by with just scissors and accuracy 😉

Making the base of an endless card

To begin with, we cut out two 16x16 cm squares from scrapbooking paper (at this stage it is better to choose paper of soft colors, without a large pattern, so as not to get too colorful). We cut each of them in half, we get 4 blanks 8x16 cm.

We measure another 4 cm from each of the short sides of the workpiece, draw a line along the short side with a creasing machine and bend the workpiece. You can, of course, do without a creasing machine, but using one will avoid creases and make the work more accurate. The workpiece should bend freely in both directions.

Now we fold our blanks so that the pattern is combined, while the cut between the blanks for one large square should go vertically, and for the other - horizontally. We coat the corners with glue or glue them with double-sided tape and glue the base of the card.

Now let's get to the fun part - decoration.

In principle, you can use anything to decorate such a card, the main thing is that this “anything” is flat, otherwise it will not close completely when assembled. We took scrapbooking paper of a different color with a brighter pattern and voluminous New Year stickers.

Tip: Since the finished endless card consists of 4x4, 4x8 and 8x8 cm squares and rectangles, it is better not to take stickers or other decorations that will be larger than the size of the squares being decorated. Otherwise, the stickers will bend when folded and peel off.

We decorate small squares and rectangles with bright scrapbooking paper. If we have paper with some kind of thematic holiday design (for example, like ours - with Santa and gifts), then individual completed elements of this design can even be cut out and also used for decoration. We decorate large squares (8x8) with stickers.

The main thing here is to look at our endless postcard from all angles. Because a large square that you want to decorate with a sticker, when turned over on the other side, will turn out to be a 4x8 rectangle, and some piece of the sticker will definitely peek out from behind the edge of the square... Therefore, before gluing anything, carefully and more than once unfold the postcard from all angles, attach all the decorative elements and see how they will look at different stages of unfolding. This is perhaps the most difficult stage of making an endless card, but if you check everything and look at it from all sides, you will get a real masterpiece!
